Oh Christmas! The most wonderful time of the year.

Though it may be an unfamiliar one this year, we can still come together in more ways than one to spread a little cheer.

Christmas is a time for joy, laughter and fun and can go much further than family & friends. In this unusually tricky predicament, it’s about time that we encourage one another to step away from internet shopping that flashes corporate deals in our face and move our eyes away from the screen and into the future of sustainable shopping!

So, this Christmas why not extend an arm to your local, independent businesses? Whether it’s a gift for you, a family member or partner now is the time to consider those enterprises that have been hit hard by recent events. Within Pembrokeshire there is an abundance of unknown little gems that are just waiting for someone to shout about! Here’s a few Pembs gems to get you cracking.

  1. ISEASURFWEAR

Anna hits all the nails on the head. Each item of clothing is made in a sustainable fashion and

handcrafted in their little studio near Amroth. Anna during Christmas time always has a pop up shop, this year it’s in Pembroke so don’t forget to pop along or head to her website to start designing your new outfit!

2.Bazaar Vintage and Antique Warehouse Narberth

What a place! One place you can guarantee a fair price and good quality everything. The pieces, bits and bobs that turn up here amaze me every time and a place that you know you’ll find something unique. You also might be greeted by their gorgeous little lab whilst popping in, what’s not to love?

PROMISE, you won't leave empty handed.

3. Fforc Welsh Deli

Treats, treats and more treats…ALL WELSH too. Check these guys out, scrumptious, homemade & fresh. Alongside their Deli counter these guys bake bread and savoury treats daily so it's perfect and fresh! You’re sure to find something that’s up your street.

4.‘From our Farm’ Biltong

If there’s a snack at the wakepark that flies off the shelf, then this is it. Perfect Christmas time snack or an awesome grazing board addition. Each packet of Biltong has a unique number that can be traced back to the exact cow on their farm- pretty impressive. With loads of different flavours and other products coming to market, this isn’t just any Biltong.

5. Charlotte Rowenna Jewellery

Last but definitely not least. Talk about hidden gems! Handmade jewellery that is one of a kind, all inspired by the wonders of Pembrokeshire sea and woodland. Each design is unique and worth every penny from the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. Christmas sparkle indeed.

Albeit a small list (but small is the point right!?) This list is just the start, there are so many magical businesses in Pembrokeshire and with the majority having websites, instagram and facebook accounts it’s super easy to get in touch and start your journey with them.

It’s also time to think outside the box when it comes to gifts this Christmas, let the businesses do the talking, the gifts don’t always have to be physical why not treat friends to a voucher at an independent restaurant/cafe or send them on an adventure they won’t forget (we hear Pembrokeshire Wake Park is a pretty good place for a day of fun, haha!) or even sign them up to a workshop or class run by a local where they can pick up a new skill. Do some research and find those awesome independents, for all you know it could be your neighbour!

The list is endless and the businesses are out there, the local owners are just waiting for YOU!

THINK BIG this Christmas by shopping smallI. Long lasting goodness!
