We have 2 straight line cables for wakeboarding (North dock & South Dock). It is a maximum of one wakeboarder per cable per session. Attached to the straight line is a handle line, which you hold onto. Unlike wake boarding behind a boat, you will experience a forward and upward pull, meaning it is easier to get up and riding. Each cable is operated by an instructor, who is able to match the speed to your ability. If you let go of the handle in the water, the handle comes straight back to you, you go back into your start position where you are and away you go again. It is possible to continuously ride on straight line cables. The upward pull, speed control and one to one coaching allows for quick progression. You do not need to have any previous board experience to be up and riding in a beginners lesson.
South Cable Obstacles: rooftop, incline & swoop. North Cable Obstacles: 2xkickers, rail and a box. For beginners, it does not matter which cable you book as you receive one-to-one coaching on both cables. Ringo Rides MUST be booked on North Cable.
*Please be aware that our obstacles may move round throughout the season.
Each session is 15 minutes long. If you book a single session you will receive 1 x 15 minute session. If you book a double lesson you will receive 2 x 15 minute sessions and so on.
If you are a beginner, your dry land lesson/safety briefing takes place on land BEFORE you enter the water for your single or double session.
Please note that the time you book is the time you are wakeboarding on the water and it is advised that you arrive at least 15 minutes before your session to allow enough time to check in and change. Please arrive at least 30 minute before session if it is your first time at Wild Lakes. If you are late, you will lose this time on the water.
All our cable operators are able to provide instructions too. They will be there to advise you throughout your session, whether you are a beginner or a more advanced rider, they will be more than happy to give you a handy tip.
For your safety, before you can hit the obstacles and water features you must be able to complete the following wakeboard manoeuvres multiple times whilst remaining in control of your board:
Hold a hard heel side and toe side edge
Negotiate corners
Ollie
Turn the board from regular to switch and back
Ride switch at least 100m
Ollie to switch
Our instructors and cable operators will assess your riding when you first enter the water and if they are confident you are obstacle ready you can then start hitting suitable obstacles.
Anyone who does not adhere to the instructions of the instructors and cable operator will be asked to leave the water.
Yes, you can but we do ask that before you enter the water you allow our staff to check the board (not all boards are built to hit features). If you are using obstacles you must remove the fins.
All wakeboarders use their own equipment at their own risk, including boots/bindings, helmets and impact vests/buoyancy aids. Please ask staff BEFORE using any recording equipment.
